Some of my books

I write books for all ages, for young children to teenage and adults. I have also written a book on writing - Writing for Children - for both aspiring and newly published authors.

While I spend quite a lot of time visiting libraries, schools and festivals talking about my books and running creative writing workshops, I do manage to find time to write, too!

You can download the free story: Hamish McHaggis and the Aberlady Gala Mystery.

2 World Book Day in Durham

logo-2014

On World Book Day 2014  I was invited to Durham to visit the Durham Johnston School where I spent a wonderful afternoon speaking their year 7s.

They said ..

‘our students are still buzzing with it!’

“Linda visited our school on World Book Day and provided a wonderful afternoon which kept over 100 Year 7 students, and their teacher, spellbound with her insights into the ideas and fascinating research which lie behind her books. The many questions asked by our students showed how much Linda’s knowledge and enthusiasm had inspired them to read and write even more. A truly inspiring afternoon and we look forward very much to welcoming Linda back again in the future.”

I had a lovely time, too and they asked great questions.  Thank you,  I would love to come back to Durham Johnston again!

1 World Book Day…Week!

Hamish in Fife 4 march 14I started my World Book Day week 2014 on Tuesday 4th March. I was in the kingdom of Fife telling Hamish McHaggis stories at the Lomond Hill Hotel in Freuchie where several primary school, including Freuchie Primary (just  across the road) came to meet Hamish for the morning.

I spent the afternoon in Fife, too and I am looking forward to going back there next week. More about that soon but I do think that the Fifers love Hamish!

When I came back I was straight back to work with my second visit to the lovely ‘Writing Mums’ a creative writing group of mothers, and some grandmothers, in Dunbar, East Lothian. I had left them with a writing exercise to try and the work produced by the group has been quite outstanding.I am really enjoying working with them.

They are working towards an event where they can read some of their work at CoastWord a new Dunbar festival of words in June 2014.
